The Community Organizer will be expected to perform the following duties:

• iimplement grassroots strategies to mobilize African immigrants and supporters to take meaningful action towards self-development and becoming active members of the community.

• Plan and implement community education events.

• Serve as liaisons to different African ethnic and professional organizations and work with African community leaders in middle Tennessee to develop community education programs and outreach efforts.

• Manage and expand the mentoring program, including the recruiting and training of mentors and the youths that will receive the mentoring.

• Assist in the development of public education materials through the Bastion Inc website, Facebook, and other resources for projects as needed.

• Strengthen and nurture alliances with the communities.

• Work with the board of directors, staff, and volunteers to develop and implement a community organizing program

• Provide assistance to the summer camp program for the youths

• Assist in volunteer recruitment and engagement activities

• Perform administrative tasks related to position(maintaining database of contacts, taking notes at meetings, etc)
