Bastion, Inc. was registered in 2002 in the State of Tennessee and attained the status of a non-profit 501 (c) 3 equal opportunity organization whose broad goal is to develop healthy, self sustaining individuals/groups particularly the women and youth among less privileged communities through the provision of Cultural Integration, Adult Literacy Programs, Youth Development, Promotion of family values, Health Education and Economic Empowerment. Bastion Inc, also provides HIV/AIDS train the train Summer Program in Nigeria.

It has been shown that, in the United States, immigrant black women are among the fastest-growing subgroups and that they have the highest mortality rate from breast cancer compared to other racial and ethnic groups. Yet their knowledge and exposure to breast cancer prevention and screening is grossly limited. The situation is compounded by lack of insurance, spiritual beliefs, and secrecy as the knowledge-limiting barriers.
